{April + James} • Wedding Sneak Peek!

This beautiful couple shared their big day with friends and family at Bonclarken, where James' family has had a cabin for many years. It's a beautiful location with long standing roots - a perfect place for James and April to start writing their story together.

When working with April in the months before the wedding, her excitement shined through. It was no different on her wedding day. As soon as I arrived I took a few photos of April getting ready and she was all smiles! I could tell that her excitement had not been taken over by nerves.

April and James chose not to see each other before their wedding ceremony, but did want to take as many of their wedding party photos before the ceremony as possible. After the guys were dressed we met outside the chapel for their photos. This group of young guys were a lot of fun to work with. When I asked if they would like to have a funny photo taken, the ideas came flying! We decided on a 'blowing in the wind' photo, which was a lot of fun! Shortly after that the girls were ready and we started on their photos. We found some very neat and tucked away places around Bonclarken for some unique photos - old brick steps, a small diamond shaped garden, etc. This allowed me to use interesting angles and provide April and James with even more specialized wedding photos.

Before the ceremony we had a few minutes for the wedding party to sit and relax. While they did that I took the opportunity to photograph the ceremony and reception decor, and then guests arriving for the ceremony. I love to take time to photograph the guests arriving. It's a wonderful way for the couple to look back at the photos and see some candid interactions of their guests.

It was soon time for the ceremony to start. James and the guys made their way to their holding space, and April and the girls walked from their cabin to the chapel as a group. The ceremony was heartfelt, sincere, and simply beautiful. We all shared a little laughter, too!

After the ceremony we took a few minutes to capture family photos in the chapel before heading outside for wedding party photos. April and James had what I consider a large wedding party. There is a lot of versatility in photographs for a large wedding party, and this group did a phenomenal job working together to get some really fun shots! A few of my favorites are shown in the photos below.

Before heading to the reception we took a few minutes for shots of April and James. Train hitch nearby? Let's use it! After all, we just got hitched! They were a lot of fun to work with and were wonderful in photos. The love and friendship they share shines through in photographs.

As soon as we finished photos April changed into her reception dress and the newlyweds were announced at their reception. They planned a very fun first dance, danced with their parents, cut their cake that was surrounded by dozens of beautifully decorated cupcakes, talked with friends, and had a great time. Before we all knew it, it was time for April and James to head off to their honeymoon and start writing their story.

April and James did a wonderful job being the center of attention, and it's easy to see that the fun and love they share will carry them through the years to come.

Congratulations! Thank you for asking me to capture your big day!
